I'm not sure if the shapes in the photo below qualify for the category of "geometric" but I was in a restaurant the other day in my friend Maria's neighbourhood and I snapped this photo of the glassware and other bits and pieces on the shelf behind the cash. I just loved the symmetry of all the various shapes of the different items lined up side by side!

View
Longtime readers of this blog know that I live high up in an apartment building with what I think is a lovely view. I often posts photos of what I can see from my window: the trees below, the ever-changing construction happening in front of our building, the shopping mall across the street, Lake Ontario to the south, and the top of the CN Tower and a beautiful view of the Toronto skyline to the east. Simply scroll back through previous posts to see what I mean.
For today's prompt, it occurred to me that it would be interesting to have a look at the view from the ground up for a change. So I took myself out for a walk around the block and brought along my camera.

There is a huge mound of dirt at one end of the construction lot. I wonder if they will truck it away or spread it around once all the building is done.
And here's what the finished townhomes look like across the street. Nothing special, that's for sure! ;)Day 28/30 - #artfuladventures with Nathalie Kalbach

Growth
Today's ArtfulAdventures prompt made me think of the small cemetery that is located just a few blocks away from where I live. I walked past it yesterday on my stroll around the neighbourhood. I hadn't visited there since I wrote this blog post on New Year's Day 2010. It looks much different this time of year than it did in the snow.

We've had so much rain over the past month, everything is green as green can be and there has been lots of growth as far as nature is concerned. As you can see from the photos, this cemetery is actually rather overgrown.

As the photo below clearly shows, someone has been in there recently and cut off a number of branches. Unfortunately, they left all the branches behind. Hopefully they'll be back soon to clear them away.
I thought maybe someone had cut them to keep the trees underneath from growing taller and interfering with the power lines above but the cut branches were lower down and pointing towards the ground.
There's a rusty old fence surrounding the small area but a rather new looking padlock holding it shut. I wasn't in the mood to climb over the fence, I've grown out of that sort of shenanigan!
The neighbourhood has continued to grow and develop around the cemetery. Here you can just catch a glimpse of the apartment building that stands next door.

I wonder if the occupants of that building even know the cemetery is there, or wonder about the headstones and the people who are buried there?

Shadow
It was a grey, rainy morning here in Toronto today so I'm sharing a photo from yesterday morning, when the sun was out creating shadows everywhere.

Light
I took these photos in a nearby park the other night as the sun was setting.
"When you possess light within, you see it externally." (Anais Nin)
"Beauty is not in the face, beauty is a light in the heart." (Kahlil Gibran)
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that." (Martin Luther King, Jr.)

I just loved the way the beams of light were shining down through the clouds.

Boundary
I set off tonight on a stroll through my neighbourhood with a couple of thoughts in mind of what I might photograph for today's #ArtfulAdventures prompt. Little did I know that I would only have to walk about half a block before the exact image would appear right at my feet!

Subtle
Some sunrises colour the sky with bold hues that one cannot help but notice and remark upon. And then there are days like yesterday, when the dawn arrives in a more subtle fashion, with pastel shades and soft clouds, causing the newly minted leaves to glow in the pale light of morning.
