The Calendar Says It's Spring...

...but unfortunately, I don't think Mother Nature has a calendar. Or maybe she's just feeling ornery today. If you looked out my window right now and saw the rain/snow mix sleeting down and checked out the white stuff on the ground, you wouldn't necessarily believe that calendar either. It's not so bad here in the city, because the greenhouse bubble effect of warmer air that we get from pollution and emissions and yucky stuff like that does have a positive impact when it comes to muting the effects of weather, but just a few miles north of here, the inches of snow are accumulating.

On a more positive note, we know it's spring because today is the Blue Jays' home and season opener. Many of us can still recall that historic day back in 1977 when the team's first ever game was played at Exhibition Stadium and...yes, you guessed it - it snowed. Back in those days, we didn't have a ball park with a roof, so they played in the snow. At least nowadays we have the Skydome (I know, I know, we're supposed to call it the Rogers Centre now but it will always be the Skydome to me) and the boys of summer can entertain us in dry, warm comfort.

Let's play ball!
