My Happy Keyboard

There are several blogs I read on a regular basis but there are two blogs I read every day and I will actually check each one several times a day to see if they have posted anything new and/or to read the comments that people have added to various posts, check out their sidebar links, etc.

One of those 2 worth-checking-and-reading-over-and-over blogs is written by my good friend Kate McKinnon, who usually posts several times a day, and the other is written by my imaginary/Internet friend Mary Ann Moss.  They both have a fabulous way of looking at the world and sharing what they see with their readers using words and photos in ways that the rest of us can only sit back and admire.

This morning, I made the mistake of checking MAM's blog before I had my breakfast.  Her latest blog entry featured a link to a website which features a photo of this happy keyboard:

I immediately decided I had to do exactly the same thing to my keyboard, even though I don't have a Macbook and my keyboard is black not white.  It did not matter.  It had to be done and it worked anyway.  So there I sat, pulling out various types of decorative tape, cutting pieces to size and sticking them on my keyboard keys.

Never mind that my stomach growled in protest the entire time.  Never mind that I was almost late for meeting my friend to do a little Saturday morning thrift store shopping because I delayed having my breakfast, which meant I was behind schedule when it came time to shower and get dressed (in the end, I made it with at least 3 to 4 minutes to spare!).  There was art to be made and I made it!

Eventually, the clock and my stomach took control and I had to stop without covering every key but I kind of like the half decorated look too.  Here's how it turned out:
