Obsession

Definition:  "the domination of one's thoughts or feelings by a persistent idea, image, desire, etc."

This is the theme of this month's Journal Junkies challenge.  Of course, my subject was art supplies.  I am currently obsessed with collecting the various bits and pieces that are needed to make journal pages.  I freely admit this.  Maybe we should have called our monthly JJ meetings "Journaling Anonymous", except that no one who attends wants to quit, instead we all tend to enable each other to make more pages and if needed, buy more supplies!

For this month's journal page, I started out with a background that ended up being rather dark and "busy".

I didn't like how dark it was, so I used a stencil and added a bunch of white bricks over top.  But that looked a little too blank, so I coloured in the bricks with various colours while still leaving some of them white.

Then I wrote out a number of things that people tend to obsess about, like sex, politics, religion, the Internet, shoes, etc.

On top of that, I layered a crossword puzzle design of my personal art supply obsessions.  I used an online program to create the crossword grid.  I'm not obsessed by crosswords (but some people are!), I just liked the look of the words intersecting with each other.  Then I added a title, glued the definition of "obsession" to the bottom of the page and called it done.
